Seaway7 Expands Role at Dogger Bank with Second Turbine Installation Vessel
Seaway7 secures a contract for Seaway Ventus to support turbine installation at Dogger Bank Wind Farm in 2026, reinforcing its footprint in the world’s largest offshore wind project.
Seaway7 Deepens Role in Dogger Bank Wind Farm with Second Installation Vessel
At SA Operations, we continue to track the dynamic evolution of the offshore renewable energy sector, and one of the most significant updates comes from the Dogger Bank Wind Farm project, which is currently the most important offshore wind development in the world. Seaway7, a key player in offshore construction services and part of the Subsea7 Group, has officially signed a new contract with Dogger Bank Wind Farm to provide a second turbine installation vessel, the Seaway Ventus.
According to Seaway7, the new agreement follows a reservation contract announced in December 2024. The Seaway Ventus, a state-of-the-art jack-up installation vessel, will begin its offshore operations at Dogger Bank in mid-2026. It will handle the transport and installation of the GE Vernova Haliade-X turbines, further strengthening Seaway7’s growing portfolio in renewables.
This isn’t Seaway7’s first role at Dogger Bank. The company already has long-standing contracts covering the transport and installation of monopile foundations and transition pieces for all three phases—Dogger Bank A, B, and C. With the work on Dogger Bank A finalized and B nearing completion, the addition of a second turbine vessel reflects not only the scale of the project but also the growing demand for experienced offshore logistics partners capable of delivering large-scale, high-precision operations.
Dogger Bank Wind Farm is a joint venture between SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%), and Vårgrønn (20%). SSE Renewables is currently leading the construction, while Equinor will assume operations upon completion, which is expected to extend over a 35-year lifespan. Once fully operational, Dogger Bank will supply clean energy to approximately six million UK homes annually—a milestone for Europe’s offshore wind ambitions and a benchmark for the rest of the world.
From an SA Operations standpoint, this development reinforces several key industry trends. First, there is a clear need for specialized offshore personnel capable of executing technically demanding installations under tight timelines. Second, vessels like Seaway Ventus are critical in addressing capacity challenges in the sector, especially as global offshore wind projects scale up in size and complexity. Third, it underscores the importance of integrated recruitment and logistics strategies—something we at SA Operations specialize in—to ensure that the right teams are mobilized quickly and compliantly across borders.
The Dogger Bank project is not just about clean energy; it’s a story of operational excellence, international collaboration, and the pivotal role of offshore talent. We are committed to supporting such transformative ventures at SA Operations by delivering high-caliber professionals for subsea operations, wind farm construction, and offshore logistics.
