For pre-funded multiclient electromagnetic surveys in the Barents Sea in Norway, agreements have been reached between Marine EM market leader Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) and energy giant Equinor and its partners. The combined contracts have a total estimated value of $3.4 million.
At the end of May, EMGS announced that it had signed multiple contracts for fully pre-funded multi-client survey acquisitions in the Barents Sea with Equinor and partners.
After the Atlantic Guardian returns from Brazil in the third quarter of 2024, the first of the fully financed surveys is scheduled to begin. For cable laying, surveying the seafloor, and ROV surveys, the Atlantic Guardian is a specialised vessel. It was built in 2001 and 2014 saw a significant upgrade.
The Norwegian company was given a contract for around $11.7 million to conduct a multi-client survey in the Espirito Santos Basin for the state-owned oil and gas corporation Petrobras of Brazil. Early April was the target start date for the work.
